![]() So What's New? We're happy to report that Illegal Contraband had a fine time at the Folk Project Fall Festival. The Folk Project was our haunt for many years when we lived in New Jersey, and it was great to see so many old friends. Our dear friend Walt Michael was there, as well as Vance Gilbert and Red Molly. Great to see the Folk Project still kicking in its second decade. We're also in the planning stages of our tour of Scotland and environs for the summer of '10. More on that as it develops. ![]() We are happy to say that work is coming along nicely on our new album, "A Home in the Catskills." This album will feature traditional songs and tunes from our beautiful area. Hopefully, we'll get that out this fall. It will be followed by volume two, original songs about the Catskills. Illegal Contraband is also recording and is hoping to release an album in the fall as well featuring hot traditional and original tunes. ![]() Liza and A.J. appear at the major and venerable Old Songs Festival for the second time. This time, they will be backing up blues and gospel goddess Lea Gilmore. Lea is a powerhouse singer who electrifies audiences. If you attend the festival, you can join the gospel choir that Lea will be directing. This will be one to remember. At the Altamont Fairgrounds, Altamont NY. See a href="http://www.oldsongs.org">Old Songs for more info. ![]() Illegal Contraband will be the dance band for the Folk Project Fall Festival this year. The Festival will be held at Star Lake Camp in Bloomingdale, NJ. They will also perform in concert. Also at this year's festival: Vance Gilbert. For more info go to Folk Project ![]() Wow. We just got the lineup for this year's Common Ground School and Festival (July 5-10), which we are always honored to be part of. It brings together musicians, artists, writers, and dancers of diverse background on the common ground of our art. Check out this lineup: for the week-long school: Scott Ainslee, Howie Bursen, Sparky Rucker, Guy Davis, Patricio Acevedo, Walt Michael, Rod MacDonald, Peter Hedlund, Sankofa Dance Company, Bob Zentz, and Bob Lucas, and many others. At the end of the week, there is a two-day festival (July 11-12), featuring the legendary Ralph Stanley (You heard him in "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?"), Tim O'Brien, Guy Davis, Scott Ainslee, Walt Michael, Leah Gilmore, Sparky and Rhonda Rucker, Footworks, Professor Louie, Andy Cohen, Bill Troxler, Derrick McQueen, Tomas Montoya, Shelly Ensor, Wherligig, Port Righ, Paul Creighton and Frank McGuire, Dave Bing, Susan Boyer-Haley, Earl White, Here's to the Long Haul, and many more. (We officially play on the 11th, but often sit in on the second day.) We wouldn't miss this, and neither should you. As one student said, "There are only two seasons: Common Ground, and Waiting for Common Ground." Check it out at COMMON GROUND ON THE HILL ![]() We are pleased and proud to announce that Liza and A.J. have been awarded a grant from the Puffin Foundation for production of "Alternative Medicine." This will enable us at long last to copy and distribute our new album. Our thanks and gratitude to the Foundation for this grant, and for all their good work in helping to foster artistic endeavors for progressive causes. ![]() LIZA AND AJ NEW ALBUM AVAILABLE: ORDER NOW! ![]() Liza and AJ's new album, Alternative Medicine, is FINALLY AVAILABLE!!! CD's are seventeen dollars, including shipping. Songs include "Look Away," "Mission Statement," and "Alternative Medicine." Checks should be made to Liza DiSavino and sent to Liza DiSavino and A.J. Bodnar, 880 Stanley Roseboom Rd., Schenevus, NY 12155. This is an album dealing exclusively with matters political (which is what's the matter, politically!) We recorded this album because, like many of you, we reached a point where we couldn't keep quiet anymore and hope the madness of the Bush years would just go away. We're on to a new day now. This album is a sound track for those better angels of our nature who have once again begun to sing. Good Listening. - Liza and AJ ![]() April 23, 2007 - One of Liza and A.J.'s songs, "Look Away," was chosen as the theme song for a show on Nova M Radio. The show is called "Unreported News.Net" and talks about the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina, which is a disaster in itself. It's a subject that needs much exploring. The show is hosted by Herb Phelps, the Ol' Sarge and airs Sunday at 10 AM. (We'd tell you to join Nova M Radio in any case; it has a lot of good progressive programming, and there just aren't enough of those stations out there.) | Return Home | So What's New? | Vane Pig Artists | Our Online Catalog | Our FAQ Page | Please Contact Us | Download Our Music | Where We Will Be | Thoughts and Musings | |
