We can't say enough good things about this festival. Folk music, as well as most of the arts, are taught on a college campus, respectfully, in classrooms (just like a real subjects!) This week-long school happens on the lovely campus of McDaniel College, in Westminster Maryland. It is a nourishing haven for musicians, dancers, artists, writers, students of the above, and progressives yearning to refuel. Run by dulcimer wizard Walt Michael, the Traditions Week is followed by the weekend-long American Festival of Music and Dance, and then by a songwriting week at the Common Ground School. Liza and AJ teach at week one. Come join us! 'Tis one of the oldest and best folk festivals in the country. What can we say? Any folk great you've ever of heard has played Old Songs, and a lot of them will be there this year. We were honored to be in the 25th anniversary lineup. Ted’s database is THE home base for all matters contra in the United States. We will always think of the New Jersey Folk Project as our home. It is where we, along with countless others, were first exposed to folk music in a substantial way. The layers of NJFP are too numerous to mention here. Check out their site, and check out the centerpiece of the Project – The Minstrel Coffeehouse. The New Jersey Folk Project is where music and community come together. | Great Links | Liza's Thoughts | A.J.'s Thoughts | Strawbale | | Return Home | So What's New? | Vane Pig Artists | Our Online Catalog | Our FAQ Page | Please Contact Us | Download Our Music | Where We Will Be | Thoughts and Musings | |
